For WvW, the server vs server open world pvp, you can also start playing it early, I don't remember the exact level, but gear is not standardized in it. So you will have a tough time until you at least hit max. You will also get tomes of knowledge from both that will give you PvE levels. You can level to 80 playing just pvp.
Basically anything levels you in this game (including gathering and crafting). But like everyone else mentioned, play the game till lvl 80 (it takes about 2 - 3 week or so). It makes you understand your class and its the nicest part of game. There is no gear treadmill at lvl 80 so you would basically still do the same things as when you level. I think the rest depend on your preference. For general QoL, you’ll want to at least get Fireball (2) and enhanced wall spring (3). The air rescue bond of vigor thing is a bit too unpredictable to bother with by itself. Bear in mind the enhanced wall latch only works if you aren’t pressing space to ascend at the time, at least unless/until
I have 3 level 80s and I've used 1 out of the 3 to beat all 3 main quest lines of the game. I always use my Necromancer. The base game and the 2 expansions. Not just that I've accomplished a huge of amount of things. So getting to my point. When I go to another one of my level 80's who hasn't accomplished what my main character has.
Player skill matters more than gear level in this game.Tho gear stat sets do matter. The only thing you "have" to do, is get the right build in exotics for your class and play style. This can be done gradually vua reward tracks.
Zeal 2-2-3 (fiery wrath + forceful greatsword + symbolic avenger) Radiance 2-3-3 (right handed strength + increased damage with retaliation + increased 25% crit chance with retaliation. You can get retaliation from greatsword 4's symbol of wrath, which you should be using when leveling up) 3. Virtues 1-1-1 (all the traits on the top column) 4.
this isn't just due to high level players, its also because of repeated nerfs to central tyria because in their testing arenanet decided newer players couldn't handle the difficulty of things like "skills" and "water". this isn't sarcasm, they literally tested the game on a group of inexperienced players and determined they just couldn't handle the difficulty of the leveling zones.
I know the journey to 80 may seem long, but it's really not. Other games make it more difficult to get to max level. I still remember the days of classic Korean MMO's that took MONTHS or even YEARS to get to max level if you were anything but hardcore. Give it a chance. You're at 55, so you're almost there! Do hearts, story, events, etc.
Heart of the Mists. HotM is the main hub of PvP activity in GW2, this is the lobby where most people hang out while waiting in queue. To get here simply click the crossed swords icon at the bar found in top left corner of your screen. Here PvP gear becomes active and your character is temporarily boosted to level 80.
My XP bar is stuck on the HoT Mastery track (even when in core Tyria) that I've automatically been swithced to after completing the only one that I wanted in HoT content, so I'm earning no XP in core Tyria with my max level alts.I don't want to go any further with HoT because I don't like it and just want to get mats/XP etc for my first Legendary from the basic game by earning Spirit Shards It's been awhile; but I recall reading long ago that some chests (wasn't sure if it included Black Lion) were better to wait until Max Lvl to open for maximizing the chance to receive the 'best gear'. Is this still true? I also received a chest yesterday that contains an 'Exotic' from Daily Login Rewards. Thank you! .
