Contributor 1 Answer. Posted on Oct 16, 2014. Hi i have a Jag Diesel 2004, 85K. i See black smoke when i accelerate in 2nd & 3rd gear. 1 - cleaned the EGR valve. 2 - chnaged the air filter (used a performance filer) 3 - there was split in the hose pipe from intercooler to EGR - replaced that too.
My reason for having this done were twofold; 1. black smoke on acceleration - all but gone, still al slight amount but nothing like it was. 2. Slight hesitation whilst cruising, ranging from almost unnoticeable to quite violent, no loss of power though - this has gone completely. This alone was worth the £90.
